Our Story

Texas Trust Law is truly a family business. It was born out of The Wiewel Law Firm, which began as Brad Wiewel was starting his estate planning practice. Brad’s move to estate planning in 1997 followed his earlier career in Family Law. That came to a screeching halt on August 18, 1996, when he had a heart bypass at age 43 from the stress of divorces and child custody fights. He became Board Certified in Estate Planning five years later. (Less than 1% of all Texas attorneys are Board Certified in Estate planning and probate law.) Cindy, Brad’s wife of over 36 years, was a high school math teacher, and mother of three rambunctious boys before joining the firm as office manager many moons ago. Their son, Zach, is now an attorney with Texas Trust Law – and he is the future of it.

Zach graduated from Texas A&M with Honors from the Mays School of Business. Then he received his law degree from Georgetown University (Magna Cum Laude) and earned a scholarship to attend the Masters in Tax Law program at New York University. He distinguished himself in high school by working at Chick-fil-A and in college by selling educational books door-to-door for Southwestern Advantage (ask him about his experience with his Amish customers). During law school, he worked on Capitol Hill for the ranking Member of the house Ways and Means Committee. Zach has two older brothers, Sam and Andy, who are both college graduates and pursuing their own distinctive careers. All live in Austin and all are Eagle Scouts, as is Brad.  Andy’s wife Valory is a nurse practitioner.

We are totally family-focused and that is what our clients crave. Our tremendous family and team of truly empathetic professionals want to take care of your family too. It may be listening to families sharing their own unique stories and crafting an estate plan to meet their goals. It could also be consoling grieving family members over the loss of a dear loved one and gently guiding them through the probate process. Whatever the need, Brad, Cindy, Zach and all of Texas Trust Law want to help you, and we will do our best for you.

One final note: We operate our law firm on Judeo-Christian principles. If that is important to you, then you will feel very comfortable here.

Who We Are

Texas Trust Law is an estate planning law firm providing legal guidance and planning in the areas of Estate Planning and Elder Law. In 2021, The Wiewel Law Firm changed its name to Texas Trust Law. The firm focuses its practice exclusively in the area of wills, probate, estate planning, asset protection, and special needs planning. Brad Wiewel and Rob Hugos are Board Certified in Estate Planning and Probate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Melissa Donovan is a Certified Elder Law Attorney by the National Elder Law Foundation.

We provide estate planning services, asset protection planning, business planning, and retirement exit strategies. We also provide trust attorney services, creating revocable living trusts, charitable trusts, special needs trusts, living wills, and financial and medical powers of attorney.

It is our objective to maximize the control you and your loved ones will have at critical times regarding healthcare decisions and asset management, while minimizing the need for court intervention. Using a time tested skill-set of proven legal techniques we guide our clients through complexities which might otherwise seem overwhelming.

To make certain our clients are well protected, we often offer to keep vital documents up-to-date, help our clients avoid problems sometimes associated with probate, avoid unnecessary taxes, and aid them in constructing strategies and trusts to insure their families are provided for in difficult times. In the event of a death, we are ready to skillfully and sensitively assist clients in handling their loved one’s estate whether it be through the probate process or the administration of their trust.

Years of experience, a passion for helping our clients, and a high regard for law and ethics guide the way we help our clients in estate planning, and in setting up secure estate administration, and trust administration structures. We can also carefully and gently help families navigate through the probate process. Through our offices in Austin, Georgetown*, Horseshoe Bay* and San Antonio* we serve clients in those cities as well as clients in Westlake, Lakeway, Round Rock, Pflugerville, Marble Falls, San Antonio and the Highland Lakes area of Texas. *By Appointment Only

In all that we do, we intend to provide a level of quality which exceeds our clients’ expectations in every way. This is why we call our law firm The Peace of Mind People®.

Why We Do What We Do

Meetings with attorneys always seem to deal with the WHAT and HOW of estate planning and probate. At Texas Trust Law we call ourselves The Peace of Mind People®. We want to take a moment and tell you WHY we do what we do.

Here is the WHY of Texas Trust Law: We LOVE taking complex legal concepts and making those understandable to our clients and their advisors so they can take action. That then allows us to bring peace of mind to our clients and their family if they become incapacitated, at death, and when they are concerned about protecting themselves, their wealth, and their loved ones from predators, problematic family members and the IRS.

Our Mission

Texas Trust Law’s mission statement is to honor God, our clients, our families, and our community by providing each of our clients with the finest legal counseling possible. We endeavor to serve our clients by exceeding their expectations in every way, but especially by providing an ongoing personal relationship with them over the course of their lives. We are The Peace Of Mind People®.

LifePlanning™

LifePlanning Legal Services™ is Texas Trust Law’s unique estate planning process. LifePlanning™ addresses issues that cause many estate plans to fail to attain their original goals, such as out-of-date documents, a failure to coordinate your assets with your estate plan and little knowledge about fees. LifePlanning™ insures regular, systematic updating of your plan for both personal and legal changes, total synchronization of assets with the plan and fixed, fully disclosed fees.
